A Search for the Truth (part 6)

A Search for the Truth (part 6)

Given the holiday weekend, I have given the families and friends of
the victims a break from dealing with my questions and me. I will
resume our normal format next week.

This week I would like to share with you the first letter that went
out to officials regarding this case. I am sure there will be
additional letters before the case is re-opened.

Along with this letter was sent a copy of each article that we
posted to date and a copy of each comment posted to the articles
(names and personal information were removed). The letters
(including the copies sent to those listed on the bottom) were all
notarized and sent certified mail to confirm delivery.

This is our first attempt to contact officials. There will be a much
more prestige list or precipitants listed on any further attempts.

Personal Contact information has been removed from this letter to
help keep contact through the means that we set aside for this
article.

Please post or send your comments to this letter as well as any
thoughts you may have as to how we can word things better for the
next letter.

You can post your comments below or send them in to

Re: Request to re-open the case involving a tipple homicide on the
26th day of March 2004

Dear Sir/Ma’am

I am writing you to make you aware of some of the circumstances
involving the murder of 3 boys that took place on the 26th day of
March 2004. As much as I would like to see this case reviewed to put
my sons memories to rest, I am writing more out of a concern for the
safety of the almost 3000 families that reside in Beaurgard,
Alabama. Families that have requested local Fire and Sheriff
officials not respond to their homes should they ever be in danger
out of fear of living their own horror of what officials have put my
family through.

I would also like to let you know that the views stated in this
letter are not only that of my own, but are also the views of
hundreds of people from over 23 States throughout the U.S. (in
addition to people in 6 other countries) that have been following
along with this case through an on-line news site called The Weekly
News.

On the 26th day of March 2004, my son and three other boys headed
out to go 4-wheeling. It was on this day that 3 of the boys were
shot dead. The fourth boy witnessed who the shooter was, yet was not
permitted to testify in court.

On the 28th day of March 2004, a man named Bernard Wilton Vaughan
was found dead. It was said that this man committed suicide, though
the autopsy reports of the gun shot wounds that killed this man were
not wounds that could have been done by himself. This man was also
the same person who ran the campaigns for our local Sheriff to get
elected. And was the same man who (this was public knowledge just
prior to his death) claimed to have information of illegal activity
involving the Sheriff.

On the day of the boy’s murders (March 26, 2004), the fourth boy was
an eyewitness to a man in his thirties being at the crime scene,
standing over one of the boys with a gun. On this same day, the
local Sheriff was questioning the neighbors about a man in his
thirties.

On March 27, 2004, my son’s fiancé was questioned as to the
possibility of there being an affair and this being an act of
jealousy. During this questioning, her house was ransacked by the
local authorities. It was also said on this day that they were
looking for a man in his thirties.

On March 28, 2004 after finding the body of Mr. Vaughan. The
officials made a claim that he was the one who shot the boys. Mr.
Vaughan is an older man approximately 69 years of age, clearly not
in his thirties and clearly not fitting the description given by the
fourth boy who survived.

The first person on both crime scenes was Volunteer Deputy Ralph
Hall. Mr. Hall was witnessed leaving the first crime scene
unattended as he went to Mr. Vaughan’s house and escorted Mrs.
Vaughan from her house to his (Mr. Hall’s house). After which he
returned to the crime scene.

Families were also told of the radios for the Sheriff’s Department
being down at this time, however the calls for the Sheriff were
heard over a portable scanner.

It is also to my understanding that outside (official investigation)
agencies, some of which were associated with the federal government,
were told that their assistance was not needed or wanted by Sheriff
Jones.

A veteran of the Sheriff’s department (who’s son is one of the boys
murdered) received a warning to the best of my knowledge; the
warning was to not look into details involving the homicides or he
would be arrested.

With the fourth boy’s testimony, it would have been clear that Mr.
Vaughan was not the murder of these 3 boys. The families of the
murdered boys after requesting to see the records of the court trial
that declared Mr. Vaughan he murder were told no. They were also
told that the law allowing them to review theses records did not
apply in this case. When asked why the fourth boy was not permitted
to testify, the families were told that he was not needed.

There was also evidence found at the crime scene by a civilian
(former local law officer) after the investigation team completed
their review of the area. This evidence was offered to the local
Sheriff, who replied that he would not accept it.

The facts stated above are only touching the surface of what was
wrong with this case and the investigation. There are a lot more
details that need to be reviewed and I would be happy to take the
time to present them to you if you would be willing to listen.

My concerns and the concerns of those following the article as well
as the people that knew these boys is that there is an obvious cover
up here and something is terribly wrong with a Sheriff’s office that
would allow a triple homicide to be dealt with in this manner. What
else is going on behind the scenes that the people of Beaurgard,
Alabama do not know? How many of these improper investigations will
it take before our law officials are forced to act on the behalf of
justice? How long will it be before it is someone else’s son lying
there dead?

What I am asking of you is for your assistance in getting this case
re-opened, having a proper investigation done on the boys deaths,
having an investigation into the obvious cover up and most
importantly giving the people of Beaurgard, Alabama a reason to have
faith and trust in their local law enforcement agencies once again.

I am making this request to you as well as to the people listed in
the CC area below. I truly believe that together we can find out the
facts and bring all to justice that we need to. Should you decide
that this is not something worth your time and/or effort, I will be
happy to take this matter to other officials, the network news
channels or where ever else needed to have the case re-opened and
justice served. I am doing this for the people of Beaurgard as well
as for myself; my son and all how knew and loved these boys.

Given the following that has been formed since this story hit the
Internet, it is no longer the request of one grieving mother (as I
was referred to by the local Sheriff’s office). It is now the voice
of many thought out the country. As a collective our voices will be
heard by someone, that someone could be you. Please also note that a
copy of this letter and all replies to it will also be made public
in effort to show the people what support we are or are not getting.

I am enclosing a copy of the first 4 articles that were published on
the news site as well as a few of the public comments posted (I will
not be releasing any comments made privately at this time). They
include facts from the autopsy reports, additional facts on the case
and questions asked by readers.

Thank you for your time that you spent reading this. I look forward
to hearing from you and hopefully your assistance.

Thank you,

311 is it a service or a scam? Continued

311 is it a service or a scam? Continued

On the week of May 07, 2006 I ran an article titled “311 is it a
service or a scam?”
http://articles.blogstream.com/v1/pid/80491.html#TP
Here is the follow up.

Sense the last article I have sent in a copy of the article to The
City of New York, I can not say if the article had any impact on the
new results, but there is a major change.

The people that called into 311 about the Stop Smoking program and
were denied made a second call. The results were remarkably
different.

All but one was approved for the program and most have received
their patches. This is a big change from the last results. The only
person that was not approved was due to the fact that she didn’t
smoke enough (she only smokes about 7 cigarettes a day).

I do not know 100% what caused the different results in the Cities
approval ratting, I can only report that there is an increase in
approvals.

However the requirements are still not posted or made available
through the City and/or their site for this program. This still
gives them the ability to change the rules at will.

For better or worse, I was one of the ones approved and I received
my patches a few days ago. I will keep a log on how my efforts go
and post an update to this including my successes or failure with
the program.

What you need to know about online Blogs and dating services

What you need to know about online Blogs and dating services

A few months ago I contacted a dozen or so blog services asking them
to comment on their procedures and regulations when it comes to
abuse of their service and minors on their services.

I received a reply from only one. The reply stated how they would be
happy to help me with my research and would be contacting me
shortly. Months later, that contact never took place.

With no replies on the services behalf, I decided to take this to
another step.

I proceeded to set up accounts with numerous online blogging
services and dating services. In all the profiles I clearly stated
my age (40), but allowed the descriptions and other content to vary
depending on the service. With the dating services I clearly stated
that the age group I was looking for was between 25 and 45 allowing
some space to see what replies would come in.

The results were not as I truly expected.

The blog services seamed to be pretty quiet and there was little to
no comments or responses.

The dating services were another story. I posted profiles on both
straight and all male-dating services to see what kind of responses
they would bring. It seamed that most of the replies were to hook
up for adult interaction. The replies came from mostly people in
their early thirties (so it said in their profiles), however when
asked their age in the first and only contact that I attempted, most
refused to provide their age.

I say most, but there was one that I found disturbing. A male whose
profile stated he was 18 tried to contact me. This one did reply
with his age. But the age he replied with was 17 years old. I sent
this one a second reply. My second reply stated that he was not to
contact me again, due to his being a minor. I received 3 more
replies after this. I did not bother to open them, so I cannot
elaborate on what they were about.

I made a formal complaint with the service that I received this
reply from over a week ago. I made it clear that they had a minor
using their service to engage in illegal sexual activity with an
adult. The service has not only never responded, but a week later
this individuals profile is still active. It will prove interesting
to see if they respond to receiving a copy of this article.

This was not the only disturbing thing about this research. In
browsing the profiles on these blogging and dating services. I found
that more then a few profiles were posted by minors. Though the age
stated in a lot of them was 18, the photos and/or content of the
profiles made it clear that these people were not 18 years of age.
And yes the well know MySpace.com that has been featured in Dateline’s “To Catch a Predator” was the worst.

Through the findings of this research, I would have to say that
safety is not an issue to these services. If is up to us to protect
ourselves and children when online. I encourage everyone to report
any/all abuse on such services, but don’t let it stop there. If
you’re into online dating or blogging, always ask ages before
engaging in conversation. Never assume that posted ages are actual
ages. Keep all contact on a clear and clean level. Something meant
as a joke sent to someone that is under age can have server re
precautions. Use caution in all online interactions no matter what.

As for dating online, I am sure that some people have had successes
in this area, but it is still a risk. I can’t say that I ever tried
an online dating service other then for this research, during which
there was no attempt to actually meet anyone. I feel that there is
still better then the old ways. Network through friends, get out and
socialize and in general mingle.

Use these findings as a basis on your actions while online. Don’t be
caught in the trap of not knowing what is really out there and most
of all, don’t rely on these services to do the right thing.

Note: I posted these profiles using extreme caution and with the
intent of reporting the results to my readers. I do not recommend
that anyone else attempt researching such a topic unless proper
cautions are taken, total understanding of the laws involved are
applied and everything is done in a manner to cut yourself from the
project once it is complete.

(other) Minutemen installing Ariz. border fence

Minutemen installing Ariz. border fence

PALOMINAS, Ariz. — Scores of volunteers gathered at a remote ranch
Saturday to help a civilian border-patrol group start building a
short security fence in hopes of reducing illegal immigration from
Mexico.

The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps plans to install a combination of
barbed wire, razor wire, and in some spots, steel rail barriers
along the 10-mile stretch of private land in southeastern Arizona.

They hope it prompts the federal government to do the same along the
entire Arizona border.

President Bush has pledged to deploy as many as 6,000 National Guard
troops to strengthen enforcement at the border. The guardsmen would
fill in on some behind-the-lines Border Patrol jobs while that
agency's force is expanded.

But the Minutemen have said it's not enough. The group's founder,
Chris Simcox, said they want a secure fence and they're starting at
the site where his first patrols began in November 2002.

Rancher Jack Ladd and his son, John, were hopeful the effort would
limit the illegal immigrants and drug runners who have cut the small
fence along the property or just driven over it to cross into the
U.S.

"We've been fighting this thing for 10 years with the fence, and
nobody will do anything," Jack Ladd said.

Most of the day was dedicated to speeches from politicians and
Minutemen leaders and celebrating large donations the Minutemen
group has been receiving.

Minuteman spokeswoman Connie Hair said it would take up to three
weeks to build the estimated $100,000 fence. So far, the group has
raised $380,000 for more border fences, she said.

Timothy Schwartz of Glendale, Ariz., who was among at least 200
volunteers gathered, said he wants to see a fence along the border
from California to Texas.

"We're not going to stop," Schwartz said. "We're going to stay here
with a group and keep building."

Quetzal Doty of Sun Lakes, Ariz., a retired U.S. diplomatic consular
officer, brought his wife, Sandy, to the event.

He said he's convinced the Minutemen and most Americans aren't anti
immigrant.

"They're just anti-illegal," said Doty. "The Minutemen walk the
extra mile to avoid being anti-immigrant and that's what we like
about the organization and what got us interested."

Agents turn to shovels in search for Hoffa

Searchers turned to using shovels Sunday as they resumed digging in
an area of a horse farm where FBI agents think former Teamster
leader Jimmy Hoffa might be buried.

That section of the Hidden Dreams Farm had been worked over by a
backhoe a day earlier. Digging at the 89-acre site was expected to
continue through the holiday weekend, said FBI spokeswoman Dawn
Clenney.

Sunday was the 12th day of the search at the farm, about 30 miles
northwest of Detroit.

Agents have said they have a credible tip that the former labor
leader's body is buried at the farm, once owned by a Hoffa associate.

Hoffa last was seen in July 1975 on a night he was scheduled to have
dinner at a restaurant about 20 miles from the farm. He was supposed
to meet with a New Jersey Teamsters boss and a Detroit Mafia
captain, who are both dead now.
