Go to the bar and go to jail
30 people from Texas were arrested for public intoxication while in bars. Undercover agents for the Texas Alcoholic and Beverage Commission went in to 36 bars throughout the Dallas area.
In an attempt to prevent Drunk Driving, the first of what is planed to be many stings was very affective, or was it? One lady was arrested in a hotel bar, with a room awaiting her just upstairs. I really don’t think she was going to drive through the lobby to the elevator.
Though this new sting operation was started in Texas, it is being considered in many other states. Although public intoxication is against the law, to publicly acknowledge that the arrest are being made to prevent drunk driving is a way of saying they are arresting you before you commit a crime.
Where will it end? Many states are making it so that smokers have nowhere to smoke; now this is making it so that you have nowhere to relax and have a drink. Maybe next week it will be to the point that if you look at an item in a store for to long, you will be arrested to prevent shoplifting. Laws were meant to protect us, not to make us fall victim for living our lives.
No matter what state you are in, it’s time to make a stand for yourself. Contact your local politician and let your voice be heard. To sit back and do nothing is allowing things to advance to the next level. I don’t know where they will go from here, maybe next year you will end up on a public registry for being convicted of biting your nails in public cause some politician found it offensive. This example may be an extreme, but it does reflect the same thought process behind arresting a woman as a preventive measure of drunk driving, when she has no intent on leaving the hotel.
Fines related to the new sting:
1- Public intoxication: Class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $500 for each occurrence.
2- Selling alcohol to an intoxicated person: misdemeanor punishable by a fine of $100-$500, and/or up to a year in jail.
3- Suspension of a liquor license.

Long Term Care Insurance on the Net
When a good friend of mine inquired where he could obtain information about medical insurance for his out-of-state, elderly mother, I told him to try the Internet.
He reported back to me about a week later, in desperation: "I am giving up, I am too confused." He had taken on an overwhelming project with his widowed mother, living in another state. As the only child, and following the sudden death of his father, it was his responsibility to care for his mother.
In this world of technology, the family unit is often living in different geographical areas and the family members are usually quite involved with their own lives, careers, and families. In addition, when both parents are alive, often one or both parents are quite independent and do not require a lot of assistance. As time goes on things, of course, change, and sometimes change very suddenly. There can be a crisis, with regard to the health care needs of one or both aging parents.
With our baby boomers facing this problem in ever increasing numbers, and with the information highway in full bloom, there is a definite need for planning. Protecting your parent's assets and health is a huge and daunting undertaking, which requires a tremendous amount of education and practical application. Our seniors face many diverse responsibilities upon reaching age 65. To name just a few: Estate planning, taxation, Medicare, social security, wills, insurance, and various other legal and financial matters. All of these different areas require expertise from accountants, lawyers, estate planners, insurance agents, home brokers, financial advisors, and others.
The Internet is a good starting point for most people to find resources for questions and solutions for your problems. There is, however, no replacement for good solid intelligent advice from an expert. Twenty years ago, insurance for elders was sold by "senior insurance specialists," with just a handful of companies in each state. The programs were most often Medigap or Medicare supplemental policies, which covered the expenses not covered by Medicare, including hospital and doctor deductibles, durable medical devices, and non-approved Medicare costs. Ironically these specialists did not sell a lot of nursing care policies, even though Medicare paid a national average of less than 2% of these expenses. With the advent of "financial and estate planning" and more insurance companies entering this market, a more broad and diversified product line became available to agents, brokers, planners, and seniors. Part of this new diversification was the "home health care plan," sold by itself, and in conjunction with senior health insurance products. The appeal of the "home health care policy" was that a senior could stay at home and still receive medical and custodial benefits, allowing a person to recuperate in the comfort of their own home. This was the answer to a huge problem. The last place an older person wanted to go was a "retirement home," or "rest home," or, God forbid, the "nursing home." It appeared that seniors could now rely on this new innovation without worry of having to move out of their home environment in the event of a health problem. As with most things," if it is too good to be true." ... The home health care policy is no exception. The problem is, there is not enough coverage for a lengthy illness or recuperation time. The fact is, the new trend is toward an "all in one" type facility, allowing for a variety of levels of care all in one location. In other words a senior could start off with little or no health care concerns in an independent, less expensive area, and then go to an assisted living, or nursing care facility, all within the same compound. A "nursing home" requires a nurse on the premises 24 hours per day, assisted living is just eight hours. The advantages to this are financial. The patient or senior is only charged according to the care level required during the time he or she is admitted to that facility. Another benefit is it alleviates a lot of planning because the care is delivered, as it is needed. The medical attention is available to all residents regardless of their current health. Some people are offered a lifetime package , which covers their care for the rest of their life, regardless of their current age. It also allows for social outlets to an otherwise somewhat isolated group. On-line shopping services have become a huge business. It is definitely here to stay and many insurance policies are purchased from Internet quotes and on-line applications. There are literally hundreds of thousands of insurance agents and brokers advertising on the Internet. Most of them will provide instant on-line quotes and even applications for the potential insured. I highly discourage a layperson to purchase insurance in this fashion. A little knowledge can be dangerous. The federal government has mandated to all states through legislation, the standardized senior health insurance policy guidelines, which are governed and regulated by each state insurance department. There are plans for almost every level of health. Some are designed and priced for a less than healthy individual. Others are for a person with minimal health concerns. The whole concept of insurance is to provide protection for "unanticipated" sickness or injury, especially catastrophic expenses, which would devastate a person's net worth. The more small expenses a person is willing or able to pay (self-insure), the lower the rate. I recommend this strategy when evaluating your insurance options. Another consideration when reviewing various insurance plans is to look at the company itself. How long has the company been selling this type of insurance? Do they have a lot of complaints filed with the local department of insurance? Are the rates stable? Does it pay claims on time? Service? Most agents talk about the rating. These ratings are as follows: A+, A, A? B+, B, B? C+, C, C? or "not rated." Do not be fooled by rating alone. It is good to have a high rating, but it is far better to have a company that has longevity, stability, innovation, service, and expertise. The problem is that some companies enter into a market and quickly leave without explanation. This does not give security to the policyholder. The most important consideration should be a review of the profit/loss ratio for that product. This will establish stability, and longevity in the market. An insurance company with a moderate profit in a particular line of business will remain in that market. On the other hand, a company with losses will make changes and possibly even withdraw. This is information not normally available to Internet users. Before entering into an insurance contract , the senior person, the family, and other advisors must be realistic, and a careful evaluation of the entire picture must be examined. The age, the health of the senior, the financial resources, the personality and attitude of the senior, and most importantly the desires of the senior, should all be considered. Early planning is important, as qualification becomes increasingly more difficult as the applicant's health declines. The senior health care market is complex. I will offer some words of advice to attempt to alleviate potential pitfalls. *C hoose a well-informed, seasoned, and service oriented agent or broker to assist your decision making process. The professional can offer invaluable information, but do not be afraid to ask a lot of questions and even get a second opinion. *Do not wait until your parent or loved one is sick, or injured. Plan ahead and take the time needed to cover all the options. *C hoose an experienced insurance company. A Company that has been in the marketplace for a significant time and has maintained a balance of rates and benefits and sound risk selection with moderate rate increases over time is your best bet. *T he plan should be flexible, with a broad range of options and benefit selections to the insured. There should be no tricks, or complicated language for the coverage. An incredibly low rate is a red flag for trouble in the future. *Do not rush or be rushed by an over aggressive sales person. This policy will not be inexpensive and will need to be read and reviewed for a clear understanding of the contents. This is one advantage to the Internet. You are allowed to read indefinitely before you act. A long-term care program, with or without insurance coverage, will only work if the senior has input into the care selection process. If there are any questions about the accreditation of a facility please call the "Continuing Care Accreditation Commission at 202-783-7286.

Rarely, This Happens, You Blue Mooner!
What in the hell do I mean by this, let’s walk down a path that is hardly ever traveled by anyone anymore. Well it kind of goes like this. Do you remember Haley’s Comet? It only comes by once ever seventy-five years, I would consider it’s a big deal.
Some folks couldn’t even stay up for one of the few nights that you could see this amazing site? How wired is that? I mean what a few nights of less sleep than, they would normally had. Now don’t you think that maybe just maybe, that they could catch up on their sleep another night?
I mean who knows it may just be a chance of a lifetime, which is what we mean by rarely. I mean you are drunk for all your Childs birthdays and suddenly you die, now looking back do you think that you might have wanted to be sober one of those years? This qualifies as once in a blue moon.
Please don’t be a blue mooner or you will miss all the great lessons that life has to teach you and who knows it may just be once in a blue moon, the chance that you have just missed will only come around for your grand children and maybe they would have loved to had videos from the last comet, so they could compare them.
So are you a blue mooner, do you need to get extra sleep even though you are going to miss the once in the lifetime site? Are you going to drink yourself to death? Are you going to miss all your children’s life? Basically what I am asking you this, ARE YOU GONING TO BE A BLUE MOONER?
There are many blue mooners out there, but that doesn’t mean you have to be one of them! You can rise above the crowd and be in the 1% club. What does this mean? Only one percent of the population will actually use there brain more than once a day or almost never to do anything they consider hard or that requires thinking at all.
If you want to be in the 1% club, all you have to do is be one-step above the crowd at the bottom. That’s all one piney tinny Winnie step, that’s all it takes one dam lousily step and only one percent of the people separate themselves from the crowd. Hello is anyone out there that can hear me are you gonging to take the one small step or are you going to be a blue mooner.
The choose is up to you just remember all it take is one little step to separate your self form the crowd at the bottom, are you willing to read that one book or listen to that one tape series on self improvement? I mean come on, one lousy step is all it takes, but you cannot hear because you are drunk and your children pray that your drinking would be a once in a blue mooner, or rarely!
Please shar this article with anyone you feel that it may help, friends, family members, associates, just about anyone and please try to be a 1% better than everyone else:)

Criminal Background Checks: A Necessity In Our Society?
Everyday the news tells of violence in the workplace and sex offenders on the prowl. The scary thing is that you usually never know who these people might be until it's too late. How many times have you seen an interview of someone describing an accused criminal as the nicest person you could ever know? They would have never suspected this person of committing any crime until the crime had already been committed. A criminal background check could have easily put up a red flag about this person and it might have prevented a future incident.
With the popularity of Internet dating, the threat of sex offenders seems to increase daily. It is estimated that the number of Americans using online dating services like myspace.com and match.com is in the tens of millions. Sex offenders now have easy access to millions of potential victims. So how do you protect yourself? You should obtain a criminal background check on anyone you meet online before ever agreeing to meet with them and never agree to be alone with them until you feel safe. When your safety is in question, don't take a chance: get a criminal background check.
Violence in the workplace also seems to be on the rise. According to USA Today, an average of one employee is killed in the workplace every week in the United States. Furthermore, at least 20 workers are seriously injured in violent attacks by a current or former employee. How could these brutal attacks have been prevented? In most cases, a criminal background check could have revealed a history of violence and may have prevented many incidents from occurring. It is now more important than ever to know if someone has a criminal background or history of violence before you hire them.
The process of obtaining a criminal background checks on someone used to be a hassle. It took someone with specialized knowledge and a whole lot of effort to gain access to public records of all sorts including criminal records and civil records. Now, because of the speed and convenience of the Internet, obtaining a criminal background check on virtually anyone in the United States (and even Canada and the U.K.) could not be any easier. Whether someone has an unpaid parking ticket, or has been convicted of a felony, these public records are all available to anyone.
A criminal background check can and should be used in any situation where safety is an issue. It is extremely difficult for anyone to know you are investigating them so you can conduct one in complete anonymity. Don't become a victim of violence when you can protect yourself in such an easy and valuable way: do a criminal background check.
Crime checker is the author and webmaster of the Criminal Background Check blog. This site provides information about how to obtain a criminal background check on virtually anyone in the United States, Canada, and the U.K. http://criminal--background-check.blogspot.com

Is loneliness the new epidemic?
In today’s society so many people suffer from loneliness. You may find this surprising, with all the marvels of technology like e-mail, cell phones and the Internet loneliness is more common now then ever before.
With society changing as rapidly as it is, we are becoming more dependant on technology then the old fashion way of speaking to people face to face. As technology progresses we as a society tend to lose those factors that are the key asset to life long friendships. Even family values have made a drastic change in recent decades. Families are now spread throughout the country or even the world, with family members so caught up in their own events that there is rarely the kind of communication that was within families 20 or 30 years ago.
Years ago people lived in the same small town and knew the same people throughout their lives. Thanks to modern technology people today are relocating for work every few years, changing jobs every so often. For that matter, think back to when you had to actually talk to someone to find out what homework you missed or who won the game. Today the simplicity of doing these things through an Instant Message has made it easier, but also took out the personal contact and interaction that we require as part of our human nature. Today, kids that have never even seen each other in person play their games together through the wonders of the Internet. This created a society where people barley know each other, even within the same household.
Should the lack of human interaction continue at the rate that is has been growing, we as a society will all suffer. It will become a lot easier for people to fall into a pattern where they never leave their home and (personally) interact with others. People will become more dependant on the internet, faxes and television and eventually lose the skills required for social interaction.
Being how we as a society are spending too much time improving our computer skills and not enough time working on our social skills, I have a challenge that I would like to put to all my readers. Set aside one day; try to make it through hat day without using a computer, cell phone, fax, television, etc. Instead spend that day going out and meeting people and personally interacting with them. If you can make it a full 24 hours, I would like to know how you felt afterwards. Please post your results and share them with others.
