A Search for the Truth (part 27) This week since both Art and Debbi are unavailable due to Art's surgery, and Debbi having to go be with her mother due to her falling and being in the hospital with a broken hip, I THEVILLIAGEIDIOT will be doing this weeks article. Thank you both Art and Debbi for entrusting me with your confidence , and trust of doing this weeks article. I do hope I live up to your expectations, and do not disapoint you. With that all said and done, here is this weeks article.
After considerable thought I decided to share with the group some of the interesting information discovered on the internet.
Some of this includes information that we aren't the only ones who are asking questions about this case! I found some information in which shows others also question the credibility of this tripple homicide investigation, and have questions of their own.

Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones makes $72,742.56 annually, while Opelika police chief Tommy Mangham brings in $65,975.10. ...
But Jones would like to see officers better compensated.
"I'd like to see a more uniform type of pay for law enforcement agencies in the state," he said. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1107629/posts MURDER SUSPECT FOUND DEAD (RETIRED OFFICER ALLEGEDLY KILLS THREE TRESPASSERS)
The Opelika-Auburn News ^ | 29 March 2004 | Brooke Williams and Lori Little Posted on 03/29/2004 7:56:54 PM PST by MeneMeneTekelUpharsin A man Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones said was suspect in Friday's triple homicide in the Beauregard community was found dead Sunday\ morning, killed by a gunshot would that appears to be self inflicted. The Lee County Sheriff's Office received a call Sunday at 4:26 a.m. reporting a shooting in the Beauregard community.
According to Jones, Bernard Vaughan, 69, was found by his wife in the backyard of his home at 900 Lee Road 401.
Scene conditions indicate that Vaughan died instantly of a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head, Jones said. A medium-caliber hand gun was found near the body. Vaughan was the property owner of 50 acres where William "Scooter" Stephens, 19, Jason Barr, 25, and Daniel Foster, 24, all of Beauregard, were shot and killed Friday afternoon after riding their four-wheel ATVs in the fields and woods at the 1100 block of Lee Road 401. Vaughan was interviewed by deputies Saturday and was a potential suspect for the murders, Jones said, adding that Vaughan is now the prime focus of the murder investigation.
"We interviewed Vaughan on Friday, just as we did others, and didn't consider him to be a suspect at that time," Jones said. "But after subsequent interviews on Saturday with others, we began to believe there may have been some connection there. That's when we questioned him again and had planned to investigate the things we learned." Jones said Vaughan left behind a suicide note, but said details of the note could not be disclosed until the investigation is complete.
Vaughan may have been an acquaintance with the victims, Jones said, but a family member of one of the victims said they did not know Vaughan.
A motive for the shootings is still being investigated. Jones said it was obvious at the scene that the land had been used by those riding ATVs before. There was no indication that the victims were involved in any criminal activity on the property. Deputies retrieved a number of long rifles Sunday morning at Vaughan's home that are consistent with the weapon used at Friday's shootings.
Jones said the young men were shot by a high-powered rifle and multiple shots were fired. He said until autopsy results are complete he couldn't list the nature of the wounds. Jones did say rumors that the killings were "execution style" were false based on the findings of investigators at the scene.
"I think now we may know the what, but we may never know the why," Jones said. "We had put hundreds of man hours on this, talking to everyone we thought might have a sliver of information. But the hardest thing was to tell those families that their loved ones were dead. "And then today, to tell them this latest development, it just doesn't offer much comfort. The circle of people this thing has touched is unbelievable. There aren't too many people who didn't know the kids or someone who did know them. I think everyone is hurting and will be for quite some time. They just kept asking today, 'why?'" Vaughan was well-known and well-respected in the community. Vaughan, who was a retired Army colonel, was active in the community and has been a resident of Beauregard for many years.
He was a member of Opelika United Methodist Church and was once president of the Retired Officers Association.
"I've known Bernie Vaughan for years," Jones said. "He was a decent guy, something like this was totally out of character." Even though all fingers seem to point to Vaughan, Jones said investigators will continue to work the case until details are finalized. Vaughan's autopsy report, which will be ready this week, will confirm more details. The evidence of the apparent suicide is being submitted to the state crime lab for forensic analysis.

Now lets compare this article to the article by the same newpaper on October 13, 2006 Case Closed? http://www.oanow.com/servlet/Satellite pagename=OAN/MGArticle/OAN_BasicArticle&c=MGArticle&cid=1149191129875 Case closed?
Despite pleas, officials done with Beauregard homicides
Mitch Sneed / Staff Writer October 13, 2006 A Web-based campaign is calling for the reopening of a 2004 triple homicide that has been described as one of the most horrific scenes in Lee County history, even though the case has been investigated by law enforcement and closed by a grand jury.
On March 26, 2004, Jason Barr, 25, Daniel Foster, 23, and William "Scooter" Stephens, 19, were killed, shot with a high powered rifle as they rode ATVs on the 50-acre farm-estate of Bernard (Bernie) Vaughan. Two days later Vaughan, 69, was dead, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. After a lengthy investigation by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, the case was presented to a grand jury in December 2004. That jury returned no bills in the case, ruling that Vaughan was likely the killer.
Now, more than two years after the murders, stories called "A search for the truth" posted on the Internet site http://localnews.yourdesign2.com/ is calling the investigation into question and asking for the case to be reopened. Stories on the site by an investigator named Artie Wallace question not only the findings of the grand jury but allege that Sheriff Jay Jones and District Attorney Nick Abbett were behind a coverup in the case.
Jones dismissed the claims.
"I’m a bit hesitant to address the issue, because you don’t want to give something that has so much misinformation much credibility," Jones said. "But with this effort out there to bring attention to it, I feel I almost have to. A lot of what is written there - well there’s no other way to say it - is just wrong.
"I’m a public official and a certain amount of criticism comes with the job, but to have this turn into personal attacks, with things out there that are just not true, is a bit over the top." Wallace’s accounts and claims are based on documents that have been provided to him by Debbi Foster-Murphy, Daniel Foster’s mother. He said he has tried to talk with Abbett and Jones but that his calls and a registered letter requesting information have been ignored.
"There’s nothing to discuss," Abbett said. "We presented it to a grand jury and they found that Vaughan likely killed the young men and then killed himself. What more is there to do?"
Even though seven form letters have been received by the Opelika Auburn News calling for the investigation to be reopened, the family members of at least two of the victims say they don’t feel the same way.
"Nothing that anyone says or can do will bring our son back, and that’s the one thing we all want," said Rick Foster, Daniel’s father. "So no, I do not want this case reopened."
Earl Barr, Jason’s father, said he was satisfied with the findings. "A lot of that stuff that’s out there on the Internet, it’s just not right," Barr said. "The only thing I’m upset about is that we never did really know what happened at the grand jury and I’ve since found out that those are sealed. I believe that Mr. Vaughan did it. I don’t think there was anyone else involved and I think there is nothing to gain by bringing it all up now.
"I miss my son. I loved him very much. He was a good kid who tried\ to do what was right. But all this, making up stuff that just isn’t true, isn’t going to do anyone any good."
Attempts to reach Murphy were unsuccessful. The Opelika-Auburn News examined more than 400 pages of documents for this story, and found the evidence to support the findings - Vaughan was upset that the boys were riding on his property, told others before that day that he was mad about it, found them there on March 26, killed them and then later killed himself.
But the form letters sent to the paper, as well as to Abbett and Jones, make allegations that range from Vaughan being active in Jones’ campaigns to others being involved in the killings.
The letters allege that "the only witness saw a man in his 30s with long hair, yet the person who was said to have committed the murders (Mr. Vaughan) is a local man, was about 69 at the time of his so called suicide. ... Note: The only witness was never permitted to speak in court, or provide his statement to the grand jury."
Abbett disputed both of those claims. Jason Barr’s younger brother, Russell McCullars, did witness someone standing over the victims from a distance and gave a statement to police.
The statement said that McCullars was "a football field and a half" away when he saw a white man "maybe 6 feet or below," who was "maybe in his 30s." The statement says McCullars said he was so far away he couldn’t tell if the man was wearing a hat or not but that he was standing over the victims with a gun.
"That’s a long way away. It’s hard to tell much about age or features from that distance," Abbett said. "We didn’t call on him to testify because we didn’t want to put him through that. The grand jury had access to his complete statement, every word."
Russell’s mother Wanda, also the mother of Jason Barr, said that they didn’t want to put their son back through the memory of that day.
"We didn’t want him to have to testify for the grand jury," Wanda McCullars said. "He didn’t want to talk about it. He’s still bothered by it and rarely talks about it at all. That’s a lot to deal with, to see something like that.
"As far as people trying to stir this up like it was a coverup or something, I don’t want my son’s name associated with that. Jason wouldn’t have wanted it either. Sheriff Jones and the department did a good job and we’re convinced Vaughan did it. I just hate that someone is putting all this stuff out there. Looking back, Russell is convinced Vaughan did it. He may have been wrong about the age, but from that distance you can’t tell. I’ve been out there, you can’t make out features. He had the clothes right."
The Web site suggests that maybe Vaughan was also a victim. The site asks "Was Bernard the one who really shot the boys? If so, was his death really a suicide, or was it a coverup for something else? If not, who really shot the boys and what are the facts surrounding Bernard? And if not, was Bernard a victim just like the boys?"
Wallace takes issue with the autopsy report for Vaughan. The written portion of the report shows that Vaughan apparently shot himself under the chin once and when that didn’t provide a fatal wound, he shot himself again in the left temple, with the bullet exiting on the right. Wallace contends that the drawing shows the bullet going in the opposite direction, from right to left. It shows a 1.3 centimeter wound on the left temple and a 0.8 centimeter wound on the right side of Vaughan’s head as the exit wound. Wallace said the larger wound is the exit wound, which would suggest a right-to left shot.
"It is very unlikely that anyone could have not only survived the first wound, but also had the ability to shoot themselves a second time," Wallace wrote.
"If this is wrong, then they should have at least corrected," Wallace said when reached by telephone. "It says one thing one place and the drawing shows something else."
Abbett said the drawing supports the written portion.
"He must be basing that on the fact that the entrance wound is larger than the exit wound," Abbett said. "That’s not uncommon. With a steel-cased bullet, with an impact wound with all the hot gases that come with a gun being fired like that, it’s common for the entrance wound to be larger. It’s not inconsistent, it says right there in the text and in the drawing."
Jones said there was nothing to suggest anything other than a suicide in Vaughan’s death, pointing out that there was even a suicide note left in his own handwriting.
"What we found were wounds that were consistent with suicide," Jones said.
The letters requesting the case be reopened claim that Vaughan has problems with his alibi and that his health and age made it "almost impossible for him to have committed the murders."
Vaughan was disabled in that he had Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, not a physical ailment. Forensic scientists who worked the case said they found no physical ailments when they examined Vaughan, who was a Vietnam veteran who collected guns and was trained while in the military.
"I can’t even begin to understand the pain associated with losing a loved one in such a violent manner," Jones said. "I know they are hurting, but we have nothing to gain by covering anything up. Our job, like the site says, is to find the facts or the truth. We feel like we did that without a doubt in this case."
Wallace insists the case needs a closer look.
"We as a group feel there was a lot of facts that were never looked at in this case and the officials failed to reply and prove our feelings wrong when we asked for their involvement," Wallace wrote in an e-mail response to questions. "Our goal is to have one out of two things done. First being make all records of the grand jury case available to me and the families, or two have the case re investigated by an outside party. If we are wrong in our feelings on this case, there is nothing to be lost by making everything available for us to review. It may in fact clear up any misunderstandings on the part of any onlookers of this case."
After you compare these two articles written and published by the same newspaper the first being published on March 29, 2004, the second being published October 13, 2006 you can see for yourselves the changes in not only the comments and statements, but also the tone of these statements and comments. I ask every one of you "How can these articles change so dramatically when they include the same individuals involved ?" "What do you the readers think is the reason behind this, what are your opinions on this?"

Good job Cindy.....I looked at the site you told me about this morning...its just a reference site mainly for LE officers. There are forums there but you have to be a registered member and I have registered...but can not post replies yet. One of the forums is fallen officers.....here in Lakeland, just a month ago one of the sweetest and nicest men you'd ever want to meet was gunned down on a simple traffic stop. He was shot in the temple at point blank range. The man even shot and killed his beloved K-9 partner, and family pet,Diogi. He even called Matt Williams' ( the fallen officer) wife, with Matts phone, and told her what he had done. It was her birthday. The mother of this animal now has an attorney and is trying to find out why they shot him 68 times? DUH?? He had been hiding behind the school overnight and the next day they found him buried in muck and leaves....when they told him to come out with his hands up....he stood with only one hand showing...he had Matt's gun under his shirt that was wrapped around his arm where Diogi had bitten him the day before. There were 9 LE agencies searching for him and when he came up from the ground.....you CANT stand there and figure out which one is going to shoot. He was waving this gun and they did what they HAD TO DO. Rest in peace Matt and Diogi.
But if you have anything else you need me to check out....just HOLLER.
Talk to you soon,
Dana
Thank you for all your help and input into this weeks article. I still think you should post the information in which you found out about illegal guns in Alabama! In all honesty that should have been the story for this week! It was much better than what I wrote, and I have to give credit where credit is due... I couldn't have done the story without you so thank you very much..
Did you notice where Jones says "he's known Bernie Vaughan for years" and yet Jones tone sure has changed in the second newspaper article. Yet in the cold case article sneed supposedly went through over 400 documents and couldn't see this? Makes one wonder what 400 documents he has doesn't it?
So many question, so many contradictive answers?? What is it that government officials can't see here? If regular people can see all of these RED FLAGS how is it they seem not to seem them? Something sure as hell is not right WE KNOW IT, AND DAMMIT SO DO THEY!!! IT IS TIME FOR ONE HONEST OFFICIAL TO STAND UP TO THEIR BADGE AND OATH AND GET THE JOB DONE!!!!
THEVILLIAGEIDIOT
No thanks are needed.....my pleasure.
Maybe there are no HONEST officles there? You read the 238 same articles I did. NO ONE can be that squeeky clean. I am gonna go back to that gun site and go thru the rest of the articles from past months and see if anything else pops up.
In one article Jones replies to rumors that were spreading around and had a very interesting comment about Bernie and his political standing. They are both Rep. and Bernie helped Jones reelection campaign but Jones didnt know he was a Rep. When he (Jones) is the head of the Rep. commitee there in Al. I dont think so.....LMAO
They needed a target,to blame all this on. So no questions would be asked.Unfortunetly Bernie was that target. He could not defend himself.
Talk to ya later,
Dana
Here is the article on Al.and illegal guns:From the website named "Gun Guys"

Firearms Come From Alabama to the Hands of Criminals
The Birmingham News has a close look at how Alabama, and other states with loose gun laws, supplies firearms to criminals in states with much tighter gun laws.
Guns, bought easily and legally in Alabama and other states, are landing in the hands of criminals elsewhere, drawing the ire of leaders who have sued to stop the flow and pledged to fight what they say is a deadly export.
Alabama’s role as a Top 10 supply state for “crime guns” - weapons purchased legally here but transferred illegally to others and sometimes used in crimes - is undisputed.
New York City police say that 5 percent of the guns recovered at crimes in the first half of 2005 were last sold at retail in Alabama.
“Alabama ranks, along with some other Southern states and some Midwestern states, in being a supply state because of its traditionally more lenient lifestyle and gun laws,” said Jim Cavanaugh, who supervises ATF operations in portions of the South. “Guns are more readily available, more easily traded, plentiful. It’s real.”
It’s real, and it’s really trouble. The gun lobby would have Americans believe that criminals don’t follow any laws at all, but that’s not true. If they can obtain firearms by driving across a state border, they’ll do it. If they can’t get a gun in New York, they’ll go to Pennsylvania or Alabama. If they can’t get a gun in California, they’ll go to New Mexico. These loose gun laws aren’t just affecting the states where they’re on the books. They’re affecting citizens in all states, especially citizens who have already fought for stronger gun laws and are still seeing violence. A small percentage of gun dealers and states with weak laws are causing bloodshed for everyone.
Joe Vince Sr., former chief of gun analysis at ATF and now a partner in a firm called Crime Gun Solutions, said 86 percent of all firearms dealers never have a crime gun traced back to their business. The New York City suit, citing ATF research, says only about 1 percent of gun dealers are responsible for 57 percent of illegally possessed guns nationwide.
ATF’s Cavanaugh said traffickers choose Alabama because they can get guns easier here than in other states.
“Cities in the North create stringent laws so a black market is created,” Cavanaugh said. “Criminal firearms traffic doesn’t have to cross a national border. So the smuggling across state lines becomes easy for a criminal to do. He’s not going to run into border checkpoints and be questioned. Once he acquires the guns, he has an unfettered route.”
It’s time we put a few fetters in there. We need stronger laws, and we need them to work across the board. It’s not enough that New York (and the City) has strong gun laws. States like Pennsylvania and Alabama need to step up and do the same.

I read the Article to Artie before posting it, we both think you did a great job and thank you very much.
You brought out some details that were well worth mentioning. We look forward to more from you as this case goes on.
Hillary
Thanks again,
Hillary
I sent you a copy of the "rumors" and the "replies" that were made on them by Jones. If you want...post it.
See ya....
VilliageIdiot, you have done a wonderful job of following up for Arte and Debbi. Though I havent posted in awhile I have been reading every blog each week.
I also want to wish Arte well with his surgery and recovery and I hope that Debbi's mama recovers quickly from her fall, so sorry to hear about this from Debbi about her mama.
I am prayerful that if it is found that Vaughan did not commit these murders that the real perp(s) will be held accountable. Until such time that all sealed documents can be gone over by all parties whose child was involved in this massacre, no one will be able to begin to know what really happened that day.
In the meantime it is going to take a small miracle to delve into this case deeply enough that every bit of evidence may be gone over with a fine toothed comb, substantiated by experts and for the young man who was the lone survivor witnessing this massacre to come forth and speak.
My prayers remain with you ALL in this endeavor.
Sincerely,
michellesmama
You are very welcome. As stated by me before if you need any help
just let me know, as I would be happy to help in any way I can. And
thank you for your compliments on the article , I appreciated them
very much.
THEVILLIAGEIDIOT
Thank you so very much for your compliments on the article. It's been along time
since I have actually written something as important as this. I know I am good at
picking out stuff written and disecting an article apart still , and it has been along
time since I have also done this.. I do hope in the future if you need someone to
write an article you have enough faith and trust in me to ask me again. This was
an honor, and maybe next time I won't be as nervous LOL.. Your trust, compliments
and everything you said made me feel I hadn't let you , Debbi, Dana, Hillary, or our
readers down. Thank you for all the compliments. And your very welcome , I was only
happy to help out, so remember if you need me again just ask and I will be more than happy to do it agian...
THEVILLIAGEIDIOT
I think I will post the rumors , I feel it is an important part of this weeks
article also, and shows again several contradictions, lies, and displays
a tone in which Jones doesn't seem to want to answer the questions
as direct as the questions are being asked. Another issue in which raises
questions on if there is nothing to hide , that the so called investigation was
done according to proceedures, wouldn't seem to bother Jones at all when
questioned by anyone? Lets all read the article and compare the answers and
keep in mind how the tone of Jones and Abbetts changes in the news article
Case Closed? compared to how Jones seemed almost giddy in the first article
published by the same newspaper as the second article I posted. Another
issue which raises suspicion on the investigation actually being done by
proceedure... and some of the answers are not the same , why would that
be??? Like my mom used to say, Liars always get caught because they tell so
many lies, that it only takes one person with a good memory to ask them again
about something they had previously said, well by then they have told so many
lies and changed their stories so many times, they can't remember who they told
what to, and they end up getting caught by the very lies that came out of their
mouths!!! nobody's fault except their own, because if they had told the truth from
the beginning they wouldn't need to worry what story or lie they told who. they
would tell the same story word for word each and every time!! mum was never
wrong on stuff like this....
THEVILLIAGEIDIOT
Thank you so very much for your compliments LOL.. I was pretty nervous there for
awhile, Thank God I had Dana , for she helped me alot!! I used to write in college alot
and also after reading the articles, we would write our opinions and summary of what
the articles meanings were about. I was pretty good years ago LOL... This was scarey at first but Dana assured me and so did Debbi, that this was fine, infact they both liked it also. I just didn't want to loose any readers is all. to keep it interesting, and show how things one say sure can and usually does change in time. I find this all very insulting to not only the parents but to other law enforcement agencies who do in fact follow proceedure, and infact do tell the truth when asked questions. As you can see by reading both articles done by the same newspaper , so the newspaper can't be blamed, that the answers and the tone changed alot from the first article to this last one just published a little over a month ago!!! Again, thank you very much for your support and compliments!!
THEVILLIAGEIDIOT
I JUST WANTED TO THANK ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND YOUR COMPLIMENTS ON THE ARTICLE I DID THIS WEEK. IT MEANS ALOT TO ME AND GIVES ME CONFIDENCE THAT I HAVEN'T LOST ALL ABILITY TO DO SOMETHING I USED TO BE VERY GOOD AT AND LOVED TO DO. I LOVE DEBATING, PICKING AN ARTICLE APART AND FINDING WORDS THAT BASICALLY MEAN SEVERAL THINGS, YET NOTHING DEFINATE. I AM SO VERY HAPPY I DIDN'T LET ANY OF YOU AND THE OTHER READERS DOWN , AND AGIAN THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR ALL THE COMPLIMENTS, AND SUPPORT ON THIS ARTICLE...

Opelika-Auburn News
Saturday, April 3, 2004
The speculation and rumors linger as a community asks "why?"
Jones took the rumors, many that were called in to his office and the
office of the Opelika-Auburn News, and addressed each of them.
Rumor 1: Mr. Vaughan had been treated for post-traumatic stress
disorder.
Jones: "We are investigating reports that Mr. Vaughan was treated in
the past for PTSD."
Rumor 2: There had been a physical altercation immediately before the
shooting.
Jones: "We found no evidence to support that."
Rumor 3: There had been a history of confrontations between the men
and Vaughan.
Jones: "Again, no evidence to support."
Rumor 4: There have been previous police reports documenting a
pattern of violent behavior by Mr. Vaughan, including disputes over
trespassing.
Jones: "Not true."
Rumor 5: The three men were all shot in the head, "execution style."
Jones: "Not true."
Rumor 6: The men were picked off while riding their ATVs at a
distance.
Jones: "Not true."
Rumor 7: When questioned Friday, Vaughan gave false information to
investigators, saying he was in Columbus at the time of the attacks and
that he had given the men permission to be on his property.
Jones: "Mr. Vaughan stated he went to Columbus, Ga., Friday
afternoon. The time indicated would be after the shootings took place."
Rumor 8: Vaughan wasn't immediately considered a suspect because he
was a well-known person, on the Executive Committee of the Lee County
Republican Party?
Jones: "The investigations team had no idea of Mr. Vaughan's
executive committee connection or his political leanings."
Rumor 9: The suicide note left by Vaughan indicated that he was sorry
for what he had done, but that the men had pushed him too far. There
are also rumors that the note said nothing about the shootings at all.
Jones: "The contents of the note are significant but are not being
released due to the ongoing nature of the investigation. Any comments
about the content in public are pure speculation. The 'pushed too far'
aspect regarding the note is not true."
Rumor 10: The men were shot at close range, indicating that they
probably saw their assailant and possibly had words with him.
Jones: "The facts determined to this point indicate shots fired from
varying distances. It has not been determined if 'words' were exchanged
or not between assailant and victims."
Rumor 11: The teen that discovered the bodies was also a witness to a
fight and the killings.
Jones: "Not true."
Rumor 12: The teen who found the bodies had gone back to get a weapon
because someone was harassing the men.
Jones: "Not true."
Rumor 13: The teen was actually going back home to get a lug wrench
to make a repair to his ATV.
Jones: "The teen had gone home to obtain a tool for use on a
four-wheel ATV."
Jones said he hopes that autopsy reports will help fill in some of the
missing details of the murders, but said much may never be known.
"I know in cases like this people want answers and there is a lot of
misinformation that gets spread in times like this," Jones said. "I
hope this will assist in mitigating some of the rumors that have
developed. It is unfortunate that speculation takes over for fact sometimes but
it is not unusual for that to occur when high-profile incidents take
place.
"I've said it before, but in this case we know the what, but the one
thing everyone wants to know is why. The truth is we may never fully
know.

Murder Unsolved
Your law enforcement officers,
Will track a killer down,
They'll work long days and hours,
Until the murderer has been found.
But for me my name did not stand out,
Amongst the rich or famous,
Perhaps the neighbourhood in which I lived,
Had a reputation that's worn and tainted!
I did not ask for my life to end,
In such a brutal fashion,
Murdered, raped, and sodomized,
My torment is everlasting.
Surely you hear a voice that weeps,
My soul now racked with pain,
Seeking justice for those responsible,
Stop the monster who walks insane!
Remove me from your "Cold Case Files",
And give me a brand new name,
Call me a "Special Lost Angel",
Pretend I'm surrounded by fame!
I cannot rest until the day has come,
When I can permanently close my eyes,
And join the others from "Cold Case Files",
Please find the killers who caused our demise!

Beauregard killings still haunt families
Jack Stripling
Staff Writer
Sunday, March 27, 2005
Editor’s Note: This story is a composite of interviews conducted between March 26, 2004, and March 24, 2005. The Opelika-Auburn News spoke with the victims’ families, law enforcement who worked the case and consulted documentation associated with the investigation.
BEAUREGARD - It was 65 degrees here under some scattered clouds. Wanda McCullars was watching her infant granddaughter, Allison McKenzie Barr, who slept in a playpen near the dining room of this double-wide trailer. Little Allie, just 7 months old, was the light that had finally entered the McCullars’ home. At 25, McCullars’ son, Jason Barr, had already lost a son of his own to premature birth. Today, Wanda McCullars would lose her son too.
There was, of course, no way to know that by the afternoon of March 26, 2004, Jason Barr would be dead. McCullars might have said something different to her son that day had she known it would be the last time they ever spoke.
Instead, it was the sort of conversation they had all the time. Jason, who lived a few steps away in his own trailer, had come to borrow a spade. He wanted to plant some flowers that morning as a surprise for his wife. When her son walked off, spade in hand, McCullars told him “bring it back when you’re done.” It was the last time she ever saw him.
Planting flowers was the sort of thing Jason Barr was beginning to do more often. He was getting serious about being a husband, telling his mother that he wasn’t going to go off to the racetrack anymore without bringing along his wife, Mandi Cole Barr. It wasn’t right, he said, to leave her behind on all the nights he headed out to race four-wheelers with his friends.
“He was so humble, he wouldn’t even take the checkered flag around the track when he won,” McCullars said.
The Ride
There would be time for a short afternoon ride if Barr’s friends got to his house quickly enough. Barr was set to work the late shift Friday, stocking Buffalo Rock Pepsi machines. His friends, Daniel Foster and William “Scooter” Stephens, were rushed to get ready for a wedding rehearsal that night, and by Saturday afternoon they planned to be on the road to Panama City, Fla., for spring break.
Foster, 23, and Stephens, 19, had weddings of their own approaching. In every conceivable way, the three men were at the beginning of life.
The group’s decision to take their ATVs off the beaten path that afternoon is still mysterious to their parents.
“If I had known they were that far out, I would’ve pitched a fit,” McCullars said.
The property at the 1100 block of Lee Road 401 had been in the Foster family before it was sold to Lt. Col. Bernard Vaughan, a 69-year-old veteran who once served as an Airborne Ranger, the military’s elite special operations force.
It is easy to see the appeal Vaughan’s tract of land had for ATV riders. A dried-up pond created a perfect circle - a track - for the men to race around. But in the rush to get to the pond, Foster had forgotten his cigarettes and it wasn’t long before Stephens was getting a thirst for Coca-Cola. Barr’s little brother, Russell McCullars, was tasked with going back home to get the provisions.
Russell, a 15-year-old who at 6 foot 4 inches stood two inches taller than his older brother, had to make another trip back home a short while later. Foster had a loose lug nut on his wheel, so Russell dutifully hopped on his ATV, heading back home across a muddy creek to get a wrench for Foster. When Russell McCullars agreed to do a favor for a friend that afternoon, he sealed his fate as the lone survivor of what would become known as the Beauregard Murders.
“Any way you look at it, he missed being shot by two minutes,” said Wayne McCullars, Russell’s father.
The Witness
The details of what Russell McCullars saw when he rode back to the pond may never be fully known. Police say he came upon the scene and from a distance saw the shooter, whom he described as a male in his 30s, standing over the bodies of his brother and friends.
The McCullars family only knows that when Russell ran into their home, covered in mud, absolute hysteria ensued.
“He came in the door telling me, ‘They’re dead! They’re dead! They’re all dead!” Wanda McCullars said, throwing her arms to her knees.
Wayne McCullars tried to restrain his son, who rushed toward the family’s gun safe and fought with his father over the keys. Young Allie cried in the background. At 1:38 p.m., Wanda McCullars called 9-1-1, screaming to the operator who told her to “keep everyone inside.”
Fearing for the young men’s lives, Wayne McCullars told his son that he was heading out to the site of the shootings. Russell, a burly football player at Beauregard High School, grabbed his father from behind and wrestled him. Wayne McCullars’ cigarettes fell out of his front pocket, scattering across the floor like marbles.
“He said, ‘He’ll kill you, he’ll kill you,” Wanda McCullars remembers.
But Wayne McCullars was undeterred. He went to the home of Ralph Hall, a reserve deputy familiar with the property where the shootings took place. By the time McCullars and Hall got out to the site, a large perimeter was covered with law enforcement officers in bulletproof vests hoisting AK-47s. Hall was permitted to pass through; McCullars was physically removed from the scene and taken back to his truck.
“On that particular day, we didn’t know if we had someone coming into the community and killing people,” Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones said.
“Scooter”
By late Friday afternoon, William Stephens was looking at a photograph of a tattoo. Staring at a large cross, tattooed between two shoulders, Stephens confirmed to the coroner that the body in the picture was his son, “Scooter.”
William Stephens, who worked for Dowdle Gas at the time, had nicknamed his son “Scooter” when he was just a baby. Scooter never crawled as a baby; he scooted across the carpet.
“They say you have to crawl before you walk, but Scooter didn’t,” said Sheri Stephens, Scooter’s mother. “He never crawled.”
Scooter was a straight-laced kid in the eyes of his parents. He smoked but never in front of grown-ups. He even lectured his father once for giving a wine cooler to his fiancé, Heather Pearson. They had a deal, Scooter told his dad, that she wouldn’t drink.
Most who grew up here know Scooter’s mother. She drove many of them to school on the bus, and she’s spent 24 years involved in one way or another with the school system. So it wasn’t a surprise that some of Scooter’s friends recognized her that afternoon at Wal-Mart, where she worked a second job.
“They came up to me and said ‘Miss Stephens, what are you doing here? Scooter’s been shot’,” Sheri Stephens recalled.
The Investigation
Russell McCullars’ eyewitness account, which placed the shooter in his 30s, is one of the reasons police say they spent much of Saturday, March 27 focused on two suspects other than Vaughan. Vaughan, who told police he’d been in Columbus, Ga., when the shootings took place, was only interviewed briefly Friday, Jones said.
“The Friday contact with Mr. Vaughan was very superficial,” said Jones, who had known Vaughan for years and called him “a decent guy.”
But police began to rule out their two suspects Saturday, and more signs starting pointing to Vaughan. Vaughan was known to be an avid gun collector, he was the owner of the property where the killings occurred and he was without any real alibi.
“His alibi is he’s in Columbus,” recalled Capt. Van Jackson with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
Police have pieced together a rough timeline of Vaughan’s actions on Saturday. He went to Columbus, Ga., police say, where he had a storage unit registered in a fictitious name. There, he traded vehicles, police say. The truck he left in Columbus, which had drops of Vaughan’s own blood on the seat, had been reported stolen from a business that is now an insurance company, Jackson said. Vaughan returned home in a different truck, police say, that was registered in his own name.
“Those were efforts that were made to try to cover up the crime,” Jackson said.
But Vaughan was not brought in for questioning late Saturday evening, nor was he ever brought in for a lineup for Russell McCullars to view. Instead, police waited. Investigators had been awake for more than 30 hours at that point, Jones said, and he did not think they could perform an adequate interrogation of Vaughan.
A Shot in the Dark
A call at 4:26 a.m. Sunday marked another surreal turn in the investigation. Bernard Vaughan had been found dead in his backyard from what police determined to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
While police say they are completely certain Vaughan took his own life, an autopsy report has raised questions for both the McCullars and the Stephens. Vaughan suffered not one, but two gunshot wounds. One shot entered his mid-upper neck and exited through the right side of his nose. A second shot entered his left temple and exited through his right temple. Both families wonder how Vaughan, 69, could muster the energy to lift a gun for a second shot.
Police say Vaughan’s death and that of his son, years earlier, were both ruled suicides after thorough investigation.
Vaughan left an 11-sentence handwritten suicide note, signed “Bernie,” in which he referred to struggles with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Autopsy reports show that Vaughan had two antidepressants in his system, Desipramine and Imipramine, at the time of his death. According to mentalhealth.com, both drugs have occasional adverse effects which include:
* Confusional states (especially in the elderly) with hallucinations
* Delusions
* Anxiety
* Exacerbation of psychosis
* Agitation
* Nightmares
Whether Vaughan reported or ever suffered from any side effects from these drugs is unknown. His wife, Jo Ann Vaughan, declined to be interviewed for this story.
“We’re Not Healing”
After a Lee County grand jury cited strong circumstantial evidence in December that Vaughan likely killed the three men, the McCullars and Stephens found little closure.
“We’re not healing,” Wanda McCullars said. “None of us are.”
Pam Foster, Daniel Foster’s stepmother, said last week that her family was in too much pain to be interviewed for this story.
The lingering question “why” still haunts the families, though most see last year’s murders as a result of a dispute that spun tragically out of control. Emotions now swing on a pendulum from grief to rage. Seated just steps away from his son’s old room Thursday, William Stephens said he still feels anger and confusion.
“I wish I could’ve been the one to have squeezed the trigger (when Vaughan died),” Stephens said, a pinch of Skoal packed in his lip.
Just as quickly, though, his wife says “You would never be able to live with yourself if you did.”
There is still life in the Stephens home, though. Scooter’s friends stop by now and then to play with his 11-year-old sister, Betty “Prissy” Stephens. But in the supermarket when friends bump into the Stephens, they often don’t know what to say. They usually say nothing at all.
“It’s a chore every day to get up,” Sheri Stephens says. “But you put your feet on the floor and face another day.”

I'm glad you posted that Cindy. I thought about it....but you know my memeory....wasnt sure if that issue had been addressed. In one article....JOnes says that he(Vaughn) died instantly. And in this article it says they had ruled out "2 suspects"?? What other two suspects were there? They had no concrete leads...
Good MOrning Deb and Lawman....miss you Deb....
Talk to all later

It seems each article that this Newspaper has done on this story is contradictive of the next articls or vice versa!!! I cannot see where one article corralates with another article? Maybe I am wrong, but I can't see where there is any corralation!!! Seems that this Opelika-Auburm NewsPaper and their reporters or Staff Writer's would realize this and question this fact, since supposedly Mitch Sneed went through over 400 documents, seems he would notice this inconsistancy doesn't it? I do realize that all these articles are not written by the same Staff Writers, and maybe this is how Mitch Sneed missed the inconsistancies? Which is understandable, however; seems like someone would notice, and realize this and start asking questions as to why this is? I would think this would not look real good for this newspaper? Maybe Mitch Sneed will take another look at these articles and see for himself, and then question the credibility of the officials comments and statements, after all he is a reporter and since they are supposed to be objective and open minded when doing any story, I can't see Mitch wanting his reputation being questioned, since I am sure he has worked far to hard and long to let anyone do this to his career!! All we can do is hope that he does take a look and question this, and get the right answers when he sees all the contradictions. I wouldn't think he would feel too good about them not telling him the truth either, and usually when something like this happens it really upsets the reporter because it makes them look foolish snd unprofessional. That sure is a shame to do this to Mitch since he has been so fair to all the officials involved when he has done an interview and wrote his articles , why would they do this to him like they have and are doing, when he has done his job correctly, you would think they would appreciate his honesty, objectivity, as a reporter, and respect him for this also, this just shows such disrespect at least I think so. Well, like I said I believe Mitch is smart enough and professional enough to see this, and get this contradiction and untruths uncovered and out in the open for all to see due to his professional standards. Just so sad to see him being played this way..
Just wanted to say, GREAT JOB, CINDY!!!!!!

Your right. Mitch Sneed is being made the unprofessional here by Jones and Abbett.Telling only the info they want printed....whether it be correct or not, truthful or not! I hope Mitch can see this. There are ALOT of inconcident statements made by them. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
I will be leaving Fri.afternoon...early...will be back late Sat. if you need me...leave me an email or pm. will answer asap.
Wish me luck.....
Dana
The report shows, that there were 6 homicides reported in Lee County, in 2004...and it records that all six were cleared, showing a success rate of 100%...I'm glad to see, that they are so competent...Lawman
I read all the comments to Artie. He was impressed with some of the points brouhgt out.
One of the things that impressed Artie was the stats made available by Lawman. As we know no one's record is 100% so should we be impressed or understand that they will do anything in their power to keep that 100%.
One of the things that is not listed here, but Artie finds very interesting is that we are becoming the butt of Jones' jokes. He apparently thinks we are some kind of joke ourselves.
MR. Jones, if we were some kind of a joke why would your dumb ass be following along so closely. What you dont know is that neither us as a group or me myself will be the butt of your jokes. You may have a laugh now and I hope you enjoy it. I assure you as well as you are following this article and every post you will regret crossing my path and make no mistake unlike you I will follow the laws to a T.
I hope everybody has a great day, and yes that includes you too J Jones.
Note: this posting was dictated by Artie and reflects his views alone unless anyone would like to add a comment to this post.

glad to hear your mother's doing a little better, we hope to have you back full time soon.

Good luck with the ride this weekend

You all are bringing to light, for ALL OF OUR READERS, exactly WHAT AND HOW, the LCSD contradicted themselves to the Families and Parents!!!!!!
This is EXACTLY HOW LCSD Officials, conducted their Family Meetings, and the during ALL OF THESE meetings, most of the same questions were asked!
It was the ANSWERS, that were almost ALWAYS...........VERY DIFFERENT!!!!
Any time, one of the Family Members asked, inquired, or questioned....why some detail was not done in a "correct and through way", all of a sudden, these same LCSD Officials.............
never bothered to explain how the details and evidence they stated previously..........
ALL OF A SUDDEN~~~~~ changed!!!!!!!!!!!! (other then they never said it in the 1st place)
Nor did ANY LEE COUNTY OFFICIAL, ever explain how THE NEWEST SET OF DETAILS and answers, were discovered and how the previous contradicted statement(s) were ruled out!!!!
YOU BOTH HAVE POINTED OUT, just a few of the contradictions, the Families were told!!!!
I wish someone who was present at these "Family Meetings", would post also, and then maybe we would get a different perspective, then just mine.
But, as everyone who reads this blog, I, am (at least so-far) the only Parent or Family Member, who has been bold enough to confront these Officials directly, and allow my identity to be known!!!!!!
The "In Search For The Truth" website, was designed to find out the truth from Higher Officials, concerning Jason, Scooter and Daniel's Investigations. As you all know there will be many more articles concerning other questionable investigations and suspicious deaths, many of them also being investigated by the LCSD and local agencies in Alabama.
Once we all finally learn the answers (no one seems TO FEEL IMPORTANT ENOUGH, to give the truth about) involving the details of the (3) Boy's and Mr. Vaughan's Case......................
Art and I will be selecting additional
"suspicious investigations, and deaths" in Alabama and throughout most areas of the United States, as well...........
and hopefully can gain answers to additional Families Questions.
These families and friends have asked us, in regards to their own "suspicious details", to publicly allow their details known, just as All of us at The Weekly News, have done with/for Jason, Scooter, and Jason's~family and friends!!!!!
I have been told information by many others in the Lee County Community, (that have not posted directly on this blog)
BUT STILL INFORMED ME, of Their............... MANY QUESTIONS!!!!!!!!!
These Citizens have observed during the articles concerning the (3) Boys and Vaughan, their own "investigations" were similar and/or the deaths, of those deceased individuals concerned, who these individuals wrote to inform us about. Included are details that were not reported accurately, concerning/surrounding these other investigations, in comparison to other crimes and crime types, that were investigated by totally different Agencies, then the LCSD.
One concern many Lee County Residents have included in the information Art and I are being sent, is how Sheriff Jones and D.A. Abbett.........
have a continual pattern of NOT GIVING CORRECT INFO. and not conducting themselves, as other Police/Sheriff Agencies would.
This is described as other other investigations, and also includes these Residents concerns involving the lack of requesting "basic testings", that would ACTUALLY GIVE PROOF, TO their "Families Concerns".
Lee County Citizens, question the details and information concerning other crimes involving LCSD investigations,
because of what has been made public through newspapers, and/or Officials Records,
which seems to always contain mis-leading information, contradictions stated by Authorities, unfinished details that were never followed up on, and/or unrequested testings to be performed at the Alabama Forensic Laboratory, just as I have.
WHY HAS NOT (1) NEWSPAPER WROTE ANY OF THESE CONTRADICTIONS, of these other various crimes, where the Officials "accounts of the facts" are so far from the truth, these citizens.........are horrified.
Just as in "Case Closed " by Mitch Sneed, a Mother reported the findings of the LCSD in regards to her Son's "suspicious suicide", which in what she briefly mentioned, needed to be AT THE VERY LEAST...investigated as, a HOMICIDE!!!!! Also, apparently when this comment was made public, either LCSD or the O/A news felt it necessary to delete the comment section, from the Case Closed article, so NO OTHER CITIZENS, could publicly state, the details of their own investigations, inadequancies!!!!!!
Many of these people, who have written Artie and I........
have tried to MAKE THE INFORMATION PUBLIC, but were refused, or "labeled crazy" (as I have been) and their concerns never addressed in any public media.
These people, are informing me of the details of The Boy's and Mr. Vaughan's Case, are also informing me of several other incidents of their own accounts concerning Sheriff Jones, and Abbett who've failed in providing answers, to them, also.
Let me also acknowledge other emails, where individuals are asking advice of exactly HOW TO GET INFORMATION PUBLIC, concerning The (3) Boy's Case, and how to make other Cases, known to the Public. Details in these individuals emails contain many accounts of their personal accounts of how their-self and/or a family member, was treated by Alabama State, Local and LCSD Officials investigations, that were mishandled and/or conducted improperly, and possibly illegally.
Maybe with all of these articles, YOU BOTH!!!!!!
are finding,
these other Families WILL STEP UP, AND MAKE THEIR OWN INVESTIGATIONS........public, as I have!
I know Art stated the LCSD, specifically Jones and Abbett, are "perfect in anything one can find" on the Internet, or other media sources.
This is not true.
As all of you know by reading Published articles here at The Weekly News, and assorted other news media sites........................
WHAT IS THE REASON BEHIND......other larger Medias, such as the O/A News, not publishing these additional Cases, of improper investigations, and other various topics?
Why will no one publish, these other accounts of injustice??????
IF, YOU DON'T LIVE IN LEE COUNTY, I would suppose this is
"no big deal" but for those WHO DO....
these People feel they are being ignored, and abandonment, by their STATE AND LOCAL OFFICIALS, and also THEIR LOCAL MEDIA AGENCIES!!!!!!!
If a Case has been published, as these Dana and Cindy are making public at The Weekly News, these Cases...........HARDLY EVER are follow-up by additional articles, to conclude the information, of what Lee County Officials, and "Other Outside Agencies", have discovered and/or prosecuted in Court!!!!!!
The one thing I have noticed consistently, IN ALL THESE ARTICLES, YOU'VE brought to the surface..........
there are many statements by Jones, as having "OUTSIDE SOURCES" personally called to assist the LCSD, by Jones.........
to "take over their investigation".
YET.................
THERE ARE NO RESULTS THESE "OUTSIDE AGENCIES" ever reported they ACTUALLY RESPONDED,
OR WHAT THESE "OUTSIDE AGENCIES" EVER CONCLUDED
in the final outcome of these investigations.
MY QUESTION IS WHY??????
Who has enough power to KEEP FROM MAKING PUBLIC, the details/concerns, of these other Cases, as well as the many DETAILS SURROUNDING the (3) Boy's, and Mr. Vaughan's?
I wonder why Mitch Sneed NEVER THOUGHT IT IMPORTANT ENOUGH,
to write these many assorted outcomes and details OF these "OTHER AGENCIES", resulted in finding??????????
Why HAVE ARTICLES, NEVER BEEN WRITTEN about the Public's opinion,
on the job the LCSD ACTUALLY PERFORMS, while investigating Lee County Cases?????????????
Why are these Cases............... final outcomes NEVER PUBLISHED, when they are actually concluded, by these OUTSIDE AGENCIES????????
What are these additional Agencies, ACTUAL CONCLUSIONS/DECISIONS and WHY ARE THESE CONCLUSIONS, never made public by being compared to,
the LCSD Records??????
Why are there so many other investigations where "OUTSIDE AGENCIES" were called in by Jones, yet MY SON'S, AND HIS (2) FRIENDS.......
MURDER Investigation, NO!!!! outside Agency, was ever called?????
(in fact they were told to leave, when they responded)
WHY???????
According to Abbett, the (3) Boy's Investigation........
was the "WORST IN LEE COUNTY HISTORY",
but it wasn't important enough, to call ABI, or contact the ATF, about, and Sheriff Jones to call for an outside agency to investigate?????
This to me, is a very big concern.
Jones called these agencies into all sorts of crime scenarios, but the most horrific Case......Our (3) Boy's, ..............
Jones DID NOT FEEL, needed to be investigated, by a larger, better equipped, and more advanced Agency?????
Especially since, ALL THE BOY'S FAMILIES REQUESTED
an "Outside Agency" to be called in, at least (1) time,
or another!!!!!
I requested an Outside Agency many times, and witnessed other Family Members, do the same......WHY DID JONES NOT FEEL THIS WAS IMPORTANT ENOUGH, when ALL THESE OTHER CASES, WERE??????
Will post to all of you more later....
Hugs to all,
Debbi and Daniel
Hi Girl, I hope you have been doing OK, since you posted last. You have been along time between your postings.
If it had gone much longer, I would of PMed you, to make sure everything was as good as it could be, and you and your family, were all OK!!!!!
Thank you for posting your support, and noticing the Officials way of wording, when they are quoted in these articles.
I think if I was this bad, at what I said in previous articles....as Jones and all of them are.....
I'D BE CARRYING A NOTEBOOK, WITH ALL ANSWERS ALREADY WRITTEN, to any questions I had ever been asked.
This way, at least the same questions, would have the same answers, do you agree?
Keep lighting candles and putting good words to the "Man UpStairs", for this attempt to expose all these discrepancies, and contradictions.........to have a Higher Official and/or Court, for them to take notice and REALLY LOOK AT WHAT THESE MEN HAVE STATED, and is public knowledge!!!!!!
If nothing more then thinking HMMMMMMMMM, I think I'd like to just review this Case, before I ever would re-open this mess, by any Higher Authority......
Hell, that would at least be a start, and fine with me!!!!
Once we get the Larger Media Services involved, the Higher Officials WILL HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO review and hopefully reopen, this investigation......
for no other reason, then votes and how their OWN ELECTION will be EFFECTED, from the opinions and choices, of the Local People.
Hopefully, these Officials hearts, will be a little bigger and be doing this for a far better reason, LIKE JUSTICE FOR ALL (3) OF THESE BOY'S, and Mr. Vaughan!!!!!!
I do appreciate, Michellesmama,
all you have done to support these (3) young Men...............
and please continue to read the articles, that are going to be posting soon.
What we all have planned for articles coming in the next few editions, I think will let ANYONE, QUESTIONING THESE INVESTIGATIONS, and not really knowing which "side of the fence" so to speak, to be on..............WILL DEFINATELY BE EITHER FOR THESE BOY'S CAUSE, or against it!!!!!!!!!
LCSD does this quite often, if you have ever read other articles, in this local newspaper. It shows clearly SEVERAL HUNDRED TIMES, the amount of B.S. these 2 Lee County Officials, ACTUALLY STATE, and expect the residents of Lee County, to believe!!!!!!!
The saddest part of all of the articles is, doing the research in finding how they have made past statements and handled previous Cases, it SHOWS CONSISTENTLY..........
These 3 Boy's were not the first, and sadly, as we all know,
WILL NOT BE THE LAST, either!!!!!
Hugs,
Debbi and Daniel
Hi Guy!!!!!
Thank you for checking in on the latest article of "In Search For The Truth". I also have a favor to ask you.
Could you please list, publicly here on The Weekly News, a simple version of your history as a Law Enforcement Officer?
I have received, an email, which is doubting your credentials.
Well, to be PERFECTLY BLUNT..........this email informed me,
this person does not believe you are a Police Officer,
at all......now, or in the past!
Everyone who has followed your experience on this blog, and your own website, KNOWS THIS INFORMATION,
but "new-people" apparently do not feel,
my own discription of your experience, is accurate,
nor satisfactory enough~~to allow them to believe you ever served~~~ as a Law Enforcement Official!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, whenever you can,
Please Lawman tell everyone here, exactly what your job descriptions have INCLUDED IN YOUR 25+ YEARS, AS A PEACE OFFICER!!!!!!!
Hugs, Lawman and to your Family too!!!!!!
Debbi and Daniel
Thank you for all of your efforts, to locate this website, and read, Our articles on, "In Search For The Truth"!!!!
Thank you for your comments stating the unfinished questions, and their answers, which NO~ONE, from the LCSD,
has bothered to answer.
If any of these Officials, did make a comment to anyone's request for their answers, THEY STILL......DID NOT RECIEVE ONE~~~~~
almost all of the replies stated by these Officials, were untruths and contradictions.
Would you mind posting a few of your own questions here on:
"The Weekly News"?
I would like You also~~to add, anything You feel/felt~~~
to be extremely important, before this Case was closed. Also, if it is not too much trouble, allow us to know your views when
Mr. Vaughan, became LCSD~~~ONLY SUSPECT~~~and the Grand Jury named Vaughan, the:"likely culprit".
If You would like to extend this comment, further~~~
please include your opinion/thoughts, of your feelings about
the ENTIRE SITUATION, now that ~~THE (3)BOY'S~~AND~~MR. VAUGHAN'S CASE~~~IS CLOSED.
If you have any questions or concerns, that myself, or one of the other Readers, may be able to help you understand~~or one of us, knows the answer~~please feel free to ask us anything, no matter if your opinion agrees or disagrees, with the feelings we all have, who post on: The Weekly News!
I am always interested in what others feel, are the important aspects to this Investigation. I am recording the personal views of Individuals of the Local Community regarding~~LCSD, and how Investigators, the sheriff, and the D.A. of Lee County~~just closed this mess, and then did not ever consider, Anyone from the Community~~would ever question their conclusions, or have second thoughts, of how/why this happened/and who actually was the "shooter".
I have my own set of questions, and also~~~
when others allow me to know theirs~~~
\I add them to: "LONG LIST OF,QUESTIONS and PROBLEMS~~LEFT WITHOUT ANSWERS FILE".
I have this file set up, JUST IN CASE, some Higher Officials, decide to GIVE THEIR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION,
(which I know it will)
in the Reopening Aspects of these LCSD Investigations!!!!!!
I will already have prepared, the beginning problems,
The Boy's and Mr. Vaughan's Cases, already involves, and just what bothers the families/friends, as well as the ENTIRE LOCAL COMMUNITY!!!!!!
I am sure any HIGHER OFFICIALS, would like to have explained to them, how LCSD conducted this Case's evidence, themselves, and how the outcome was questioned, by many more individuals, then just myself!!!!!
I also will show Higher Officials, just how long this list actually is, and how many 100's of comments, and information was/has
been provided to myself, and Artie.........
by Other Citizens, ( besides me).
This will allow EVERYONE TO EVALUATE WHAT ALL TOOK PLACE, AND HOW THIS CASE WAS CLOSED, so quickly!!!!!
and just how many individuals and exactly WHO ALL~~~~ STILL WONDER ABOUT HOW INVESTIGATORS~~~felt they would never be challenged, in their remarks, contradictions, and verdict......in these Young Men Case.
Thank you so much, and thank you for letting all of us,
know Scooter, just a little bit better!!!!!!
hugs,
Debbi and Daniel
I was reading the latest posts and I am very impresses as well that we.....once again ...as a group...have discredit the LCSO. Thier investigation of the boys murders as well as Vaughns...IS A JOKE!! And Jones has the balls to say we are the joke and a misinformed group. LMMFAO Who are the ones that cant get the story straight? Lie after lie has been told,so many in fact that they cant keep up with which one is the most current, or which one has been retracted. GOOD WORK EVERYONE!!!
Thanks Hillary for the support, it means alot. Just keep me in mind tomorrow night about 8:45....on a horse named "Out For Justice"....how can I go wrong??
Talk to everyone Sunday night...
Thanks again ...

However knowing Jones views about me and the rest of us, I am sure he would feel it would be a waste of his time to think of e-mailing me never mind actually doind it.
Jones and Abbett, you will have the background no everyone involved with this ongoing article in the near future. I will be providing it to you in my own way.
I only hope you laugh just as hard then as you are now.
In the mean time, If you have information on any of us that you would like to post in an attempt to discredit us, please (I am asking you to) hit us with your best. But keep in mind that I am prepared to hit back twice as hard and look forward to it. ;)
Have a nice day.
Artie Wallace
PS
It was worth the pain to sit here and type this personally just to be sure that your reading this directly from me and not someone typing it for me.
In respect to taking care of things as you would like.
Though I disagree due to their behavior on this, I would say to do as you wish with my blessings.
Should they need help in contacting you, they can e-mail Debbi and/or myself and we will forward their e-mail to you unaltered.
Thank you lawman for all your help and standing up now.
Art
Thank you Sir,
for once AGAIN........................
PROVIDING THESE (2) LEE COUNTY OFFICIALS,
with an accurate account of..................
what YOU DO FOR A LIVING!!!!!!
Maybe, because you are NOTHING LIKE THEM..................
meaning an honorable, honest, and compassionate, Police Officer, who questions their techniques, their conclusions and their contradictions, the Lee County Sheriff Officials, can't recognize you, for exactly what you are............................
A POLICE OFFICER!!!!!!!
Unfortunately,
Lee County Alabama,
at least in many of the force who serve under the title of: The LCSD
DO NOT HAVE A CLUE~~~~~~~~~what you are about, or what you stand for!!!!!
I am sure Lawman............
The Community of Lee County does know, and truly recognizes
YOU and YOUR EFFORTS,
in involving yourself, and your experience, for the only goal we all have ever asked, and now are demanding, from the LCSD!!!!!
THE TRUTH IN WHAT HAPPENED TO (3) YOUNG MEN, MARCH 26, 2004......and WHY???????? Would the Agency that investigated this Case,
investigate and conclude.........WHAT THEY HAVE, BY THE FACTS THAT WERE PRESENTED TO THEM !!!!!!!!!!
I KNOW for a fact Lawman, as I have received many comments of Lee County,
they all truly APPRECIATE ALL OF YOUR EFFORTS, and especially feel grateful of your support, experience, and knowledge, you have very willingly, "free of charge" and extended to me.....for these (3) Boys......
The Citizens of Lee County, truly commend YOUR EFFORTS~~~IN HELPING TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THE MESS~~~~when it is VERY OBVIOUS, their Own Law Enforcement agency, DOESN'T GIVE A DAMN!!!!!!!!
I wish at least one of these (2) Police Officials,
who FEEL SO STRONGLY~~~~THAT THE CONTENTS OF THIS BLOG, ARE LIES~~~~~
and your Not~~~~~a true "peace officer~~official" as You and I have explained to the Readers..........
WOULD HAVE THE GUTS~~~~TO CONTACT YOU, AT YOUR OWN DEPARTMENT!!!!!
I would love them to talk to you directly Lawman, and try and convenience you~~~~~~into believing their lies!!!!!
Thank you Lawman, for everything!!!!!!
I know these (3) Young Men and Mr. Vaughan, thank you as well!
I also recall reading, Mr. Vaughan,
felt someone may~~~~~find him dead, one day~~~~~~with a gunshot to his own head!
Mr. Vaughan's only comment, (if this ever happened) was someone to Please!!!!!!!!!
Investigate HIS "supposed suicide", as a murder......because this (suicide) is NOT SOMETHING HE WOULD EVER CONSIDER, to inflict upon his own self!!!!!
Just one more piece, Lawman.........
to this Case....where Mr. Vaughan even made it perfectly clear,
he would not die~~~~in the manner that LCSD, has concluded.
Lawman,
I will continue to teach my Children, that a Law Enforcement Official, CAN BE GOOD!
I felt before I met you, that what I had taught the Older Boy's, Ricky and Daniel......
was such a mis-justice to them~~~~~especially with the mess THESE POLICE OFFICERS, have made of My Son's Murder Investigation!!!!
But, I will continue to respect, and apply these teachings to the little ones.
As I now can truthfully state...........
ALL LAW OFFICIALS ARE NOT, deceptive, and dishonest AS THESE IN THE LEE COUNTY SHERIFF AGENCY, have been to their own community!!!!!!!!!!
There are "good cops"!!!!!!
This is something I was taught by my parents, but was beginning to really doubt.
Especially after, 1st dealing with....Officials from Lee County, many years prior, of these murders.
I myself have a very great, kind and compassionate Friend....who is also,
A POLICE OFFICER!!!!!!!!!
and that would be YOU
Thank you for showing myself, and the residents of Lee county,
THERE ACTUALLY ARE, still in and on the Police Force,
HONEST, COMPASSIONATE, AND CARING INDIVIDUALS.......who serve them daily, and are there to help make their lives better, rather then DISTROY THEIR LIVES, as these Officials have done to the Lee County Community, and Myself and Family!!!!!!!
Hugs, and a whole LOT OF TRUE RESPECT!!!!!!!
Debbi and Daniel
I am on my way, once again to MaMa's, in Florida!!!!!!! I will not be taking my computer, as I told everyone, as it is a real pain to try and get an Internet hook-up, into my Mom's house.......there has never been anything like that,
even around her neighborhood.
So, I will be going,
well no.......actually LOOKING FOR FIRST,
the local library, when I can be keeping up with all of your comments.........
....................this is how I'll be keeping up with every-ones posts, cause THIS IS SURE NOT THE TIME.......TO BE OUT OF TOUCH!!!!!!
I appreciate all of your help, and I FEEL CONFIDENT, WITH THESE LATEST DEVELOPEMENTS, we are going to get The (3) Boy's Case, and Mr. Vaughan's, "supposed suicide"...... reopened!!!!!!
I realize, everyone is working sooo hard, for our goal, of FINDING THE TRUTH, has been alot of hard work, and extreme dedication, from those who have help me to achieve this. I appreciate, each and every one of you, and wish there was something I could do, or say, to repay ALL OF YOU, for all THE EFFORT, you have given me, so generously, and willingly.
I don't know any words to let you know all I feel in my heart, except thank you, and if EVER YOU NEED ME, for ANYTHING, I'll be there, I promise!!!!!! There is so much more in my heart, I don't even know how to start to explain this.
Thanks Guys, I LOVE EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU!!!!!!!!
I also know Daniel, Jason and Scooter, appreciate all of your help, and feel the same as I do, for "BEING THEIR VOICES, AS THEY CAN'T EXPLAIN THE DETAILS"!!!!!!
For achieving justice in this horrendous crime, we all should be VERY PROUD, of all we have achieved, for THESE (3) YOUNG MEN, and JUSTICE, TO BE SO CLOSE BY, it will seem like no time at all.
I also need to let everyone no, THERE WILL BE NO CHAT, SUNDAY NIGHT, as I know the library, in the little town my MaMa lives, will not be open!
Maybe Santa Claus, can bring me a lap-top computer,
I love ya AND I WILL BE LOGGING ON, more then likely it will be Monday, before I can do this. I have all the confidence in the world, you all will keep this going, and all will be handled as if I was sitting here at home, and at my computer the 15-18 hours, as usual!!!!!
Just to be able to say this, to me is worth the world!!!!!
I have such wonderful people helping me fight for justice, and I love all of you, forever!!!!!!!
I have made sooo many friendships through doing this with Artie, and I know they all will be for a lifetime!!!!!!
For all of the Love, Friendship and Dedication, from all of YOU...............I will be forever, be greatful.
I wish you all a VERY BLESSED THANKGIVING, this coming week!!!!! You all, have made my Thankgiving 2006, a very memorable, and special one.
For if it wasn't for all of you, I would never be able to THANK GOD, each and every day, for JUSTICE TO BE RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER!!!!!!
Hugs and HAPPY THANKGIVING, just a little early, everybody!!!!!!
Love,
Debbi and Daniel
Scooter and Jason
FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS AND IN OUR THOUGHTS!!!!!!!!!!!
Jason, Scooter and Daniel~~~~~~OUR HERO'S, FOREVER!!!!!!!
I have a question for LAWMAN THE ONLY HONEST LAW OFFICIAL WHO HAS UNSELFISHLY , WILLINGLY, AND HAD THE BALLS TO POST ON THIS GROUP ONE , WELL MAYBE 2 QUESTIONS.
1: WHEN YOU BECAME A POLICE OFFICER RIGHT AFTER FINISHING TRAINING AT THE ACADAMY ( I ASSUME THERE WAS A GRADUATION CERAMONY) WAS IT THEN OR LATER THAT YOU TOOK AN OATH TO BECOME AN OFFICIAL OFFICER OF THE LAW?
2: WERE ANY 0F THESE WORDS IN THE OATH IN WHICH ONE TAKES TO BE A QUALIFIED OFFICIAL OF THE LAW MEANING THE FOLLOWING "LIKELY" "LIKELINESS" OR "PROBABLE" FOR EXAMPLE: I (NAME)PROMISE I (AGAIN NAME) "LIKELY" AGREE TO SERVE THE PEOPLE , TO UPHOLD THE LAW AS I SEE IT, OTHERWISE I WILL "LIKELY" IGNORE THE PUBLIC , COMMUNITY AND CITIES CALLS , COMPLAINTS DO TO "PROBABALE" BULLSHIT IN THE "LIKEINESS" OF BEING A WASTE OF AN OFFICERS TIME, IN WHICH WE TAKE VERY SERIOUSLY AS AN INTERUPTION ON OUR DUTIES AND REPUTATION WITH THE OWNERS OF OUR FAVORITE "DONUT SHOPS" WHICH IS ONLY TO INTERUPTED IN THE "LIKINESS" THAT NO OTHER OFFICIALS SURROUNDING OR IN THE COUNTY BEING UNABLE TO ANSWER CALLS DUE TO "PROBABLE" AND "LIKELY" BEING THERE ALSO!?
3: IS ANY OF THESE WORDS SERIOUSLY IN THE OATH AN OFFICER TAKES WHEN THEY ARE OFFICIALLY GIVEN THEIR BADGE , THE WORDS I AM TALKING ABOUT ARE: "LIKELY" , "LIKEINESS" , AND "PROBABLE"? I HARDLY THINK ANY OF THESE WORDS WOULD BE IN ANY LAW OFFICIALS OATH. I AM GOING TO FIND OUT EXACTLY WHAT WORD FOR WORD THE OATH AN OFFICER TAKES IS!! JUST WANTED YOUR OPINION DUE TO SUCH HONESTY, AND HELL BENT FOR THE TRUTH , THE WHOLE TRUTH, AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH TO THE BEST OF YOUR ABILITY KIND OF MAN THAT YOU ARE! YOU SIR ARE THE EXAMPLE OF A WELL DESERVING MAN TO PROUDL
